Sunset at Tigne Point in Sliema, Malta, October 2014

Another day, another sunset in Malta. A few weeks ago myself and Joe met our friends Andreas and Elaine for a picnic by the sea, as the sun went down. I absolutely love the flat rock area beside Tigne Point for nights like this. It's completely smooth, accessible, right by the sea, with the most stunning view of Valletta and a sky that lights up as the sun goes down.

This place is perfect to spend the day, or evening, any time of year. In the summer it's ideal for BBQ's as there are coal bins for you to leave your hot embers in once done, plenty of space to make your own and steps into the sea meaning you can cool off once your dinner has gone down.

Then in the colder months it's out of the worst of the wind, you don't have to worry too much about rough seas, as it's quiet enclosed, so you can still sit by the water and enjoy the winter sun during the day, and the sunset at night.

With the sprawling view of the iconic Valletta skyline, plus yachts and boats surrounding, it's beautiful 24 hours a day. The sun rises right out of the sea, just 5 minutes walk from here (towards St Julians) and then you can watch intense sunsets come evening time.

It's right in the heard of Sliema, so as the sun goes down you'll see all the day boats coming in- tourists and fishermen alike. Plus if you get a bit chilly, there are a wealth of coffee shops and cafes just moments away, so you can toast your cold fingers around a warm beverage.

Just freaking look at that view. It's beautiful no matter what the time, but once the darkness creeps in and the lights pop on, it's truly breathtaking.
