Sunset #4 Over the Sea @ Golden Bay/ Riviera

For as long as I can remember I've been begging everyone I know to come with me and watch the sun setting over the sea at Ghajn Tuffieha. As you probably know by now I am obsessed with sunsets and I don't recall ever seeing it set over the sea and I just knew it would be absolutely stunning. Finally on Thursday I got my wish and it was even more beautiful than I imagined. I'm a bit upset that my pictures aren't as amazing as I'd hoped but I'm no professional and I have a few nice ones which I think almost capture the awe inspiring beauty of our sun setting on the Mediterranean sea.

We spent the day at Golden Bay, getting there quite late, around 4pm to catch the last few hours of sunlight before the sun set fully at 7.37PM. We walked up to the top of Ghajn Tuffieha by the fort to watch and we weren't the only one's who had come to watch the spectacle. There were a number of groups of people, young and old, sitting around waiting. There was even a beautiful woman in her wedding dress having professional pics taken which was a lovely idea.

What I love most about sunsets is the change. The colours morph and deepen every moment as the sun moves down, starting from pale yellows, introducing some dusky pinks and deepening to orange until it reaches a peak of intense red as the last few glowing embers disappear. I made sure not to put my camera away for a moment so I could get all the different stages and colours before they passed.

Just as it was disappearing under the water is when it turned the sky a really deep and intense red and it wasn't too bright so we could look directly at it and I just can't describe how amazing it was.

And in no time at all, it was over. Luckily for us, our bus arrived about 3 minutes later so it was perfect timing and the perfect end to a lovely day!
