Review: Vinotheque Restaurant, Marina Hotel, St Julians

During a recent stay at the Marina Hotel Corinthia Beach Resort we tried an on-location restaurant, Vinotheque, for dinner. There is indoor and outdoor seating, so you can decide whether to enjoy the warmth of summer or else enjoy the aircon if it's a little too hot. We decided to sit outside as the area is so pretty, filled with plants and trees and atmospheric lighting. Whilst we were there there was live music to entertain whilst you ate.

Review: Vinotheque Restaurant, Marina Hotel, St Julians

The service was excellent, we were never left looking for help, someone was always at hand if you needed them. We were brought out bread to begin, then there was a nice wait before the starter and then between the starter and the main. It drives me nuts when the courses come too quickly and when they take too long, so it's always nice when they get the wait time just right. I want to have finished one course and have a little relax until the next one comes, is it too much to ask? At Vinotheque, it's not!

Starter: French Onion Soup €6.95 // Chicken Liver Pate €8.95Main: Rib-eye €23.95 // Sea Bass (daily special)Dessert: Chocolate Fondant €5.95

The food was absolutely lovely. The only thing we didn't love was the French Onion Soup, which was just a touch bland but the rest was lovely. My chicken liver pate starter was a huge portion, I would have been happy with just half the amount of pate! The brioche, pate and berry compote was the perfect combo. The steak was well cooked and my sea bass was super tasty. The fondant was the right amount for us to share, making it a total bargain and the centre was melty and gooey- too often a fondant arrives and it's either all a big wet mess, or it's cooked through, so it was a nice change to cut in and see the chocolate seeping out. Nom.

Pricewise, everything was great value, considering the excellent service, great location and the quality of the food, it was actually a real bargain. I'd absolutely recommend the Vinotheque restaurant for people staying at the Marina Hotel or anyone looking for an excellent meal in St Julians.
