2025 resolutions half way update

I can barely believe we are half way into 2025 already. I don’t know where the time has gone, so I thought it might help to stop, slow down and look back at what I hoped to achieve this year and if my 2025 goals are progressing as quickly as the months. And, if not, is there anything I can do, to get back on track?

💚 Health + wellbeing new years resolutions

Workout 4 times per week

My actual average for the year so far is 6 workouts per week! Now I do track everything, so if a walk is 15 minutes or more, it’s getting logged. So perhaps some people wouldn’t consider a 20 minute walk a workout, but I do. It’s movement. I generally aim for gym with my PT twice per week, then a few home workouts and walks inbetween.

Get one massage / facial per month

I’m considering this on track. I’ve had one per month, except for March where I chose not to have one due to a large expense that month that directly feeds into my next goal.

  1. January: Lymphatic face massage with Dina from Harmony Touch. The fingers of an angel!

  2. February: I booked a Hydrafacial but I arrived and they told me the machine wasn’t working so she did something else, I think it was a type of galvanic treatment at Carisma Spa.

  3. March: nothing, by choice, due to large expense.

  4. April: Anti aging facial with Zydre at Blossom Salon.

  5. May: Hydrafacial at Health & Co

  6. June: TBD, but I’m leaning towards seeing Dina again.

My favourites have been Dina from Harmony Touch and the Hydrafacial.

Get invisible braces

Yes! I am now on my 9th tray of 17 (although treatment can be extended depending on how it looks at 17). I went with Invisalign as they had a sale on the unlimited package which was €3200 and it’s not for a set amount of trays, they keep going until you’re happy. Initially I regretted it so much, I had an insane amount of anxiety around my teeth as soon as I began and this went on for a few weeks. I was certain I had destroyed my teeth, but now I’m over 3 months in and seeing improvements I am so happy I finally took the plunge.

🧡 Financial resolutions for 2025

I had both a savings and earnings goal for this year, which I intended to break down quarterly and adjust each time. So far the earnings goal is a little behind, I’m counting on some commission to build up by the end of the year. The savings goal has also been harder than expected. Some things cropped up during January that saw me travelling a lot more than usual and also spending more than usual due to stress, but I haven’t done terribly and I’m very much back on track.

💚 Personal development goals

Read 12 books

HELL YES. I am currently on my 13th book and we’re only half way through the year. Plus I’ve listened to 3 audiobooks although, whilst still a good way to spend time, they don’t have quite the same brain benefits of reading. Really happy with this one, it’s become such an easy part of my daily routine and I’m seeing a big improvement in things like my shrt term memory and my ability to focus.

Downsize clothing collection

Ongoing, but I’m happy. I’m regularly donating items and I still have another clearout or two in me.

Reduce clothes shopping

Doing OK, could do better. I’m nothing like I was for a while, but with quite a few UK trips to see family I did get a bit shop happy, also to make myself feel better but I’m back in a good swing of not needing the dopamine hit of shopping.

Keep journaling

Yes. I keep a twice daily gratitude journal most days. I’ve found it only takes 2-3 minutes and focusing on positives has been a really nice way to start and finish each day. Then I have a deeper journal for when I’m in my head and I need to get things on paper to either organise them or take away their power. It’s been really helpful in navigating, surviving and thriving in a very difficult year.

Reduce phone screentime to average of 3 hours per day

Failing miserably. I’ve been playing puzzle games and using some apps for some self-care but I am reducing social media screentime at least.

12 blog posts

So far! If you want to catchup on the year I’ve written about:

  1. Setting and keeping new years resolutions

  2. Favourite shops and services in Malta

  3. My experience with semi-permanent brow tattooing at Penelope Gomes

  4. A week day in my life in Malta

plus I’ve updated my iconic Swimming Pools in Malta post with 2025s pools and prices

🧡 Family and social

Take a girls trip with a core group of friends

I actually combined this one and the next one, when two of my Malta based friends and I headed to Sofia to see our friend Olga. It was a fantastic weekend, I had so much fun seeing Sofia again and being with all my girls together.

Visit my friend Olga in Sofia

Take Mum + Steve on a Norwegian Fjord cruise

This one is still on the list, planning for later in the year.

2025 progress so far

Overall, I consider myself on track for what I wanted to achieve in 2025. Some goals are trailing behind a little, but in others I am smashing it. I’m so happy with how reading and journalling have become second nature and fit so well into my routine. My spending and saving habits are improving all the time. I already live a pretty frugal life, but I don’t deprive myself and feel I’m living in a way that fits me, where I am right now whilst also setting me up for a good future.
